What technology will I need to participate in a virtual class?

The application we will be using for the online class is Zoom. You will need to download the (free) app to a laptop, tablet, phone or other device with a camera, speaker and microphone. You will need to sign in to Zoom with the same email that you used when booking the class. After you book a virtual class, you will receive an email with recipes and the Zoom link to the virtual class within a day of the class.

When will I get the Zoom link for a virtual class?

At least one day before the class that you have booked takes place, you will receive another email with recipes and the Zoom link to the virtual class. We will be using Zoom video conferencing for the class, so you will need to have Zoom downloaded on your device to participate.

Do I get a copy of the recipes prepared during the class?

All in-store classes include a copy of the recipes for you to take home. If you are taking a virtual class, the recipes will be emailed to you a day before the virtual class takes place.

When will I get the shopping list for a virtual class?

When you book your class, your order confirmation email will include the shopping and equipment list, along with preparation notes for the class. You can do your groceries in-store at your local Longo’s, or you can order your groceries for delivery at GroceryGateway.com. Make sure you purchase or receive your groceries at least a day before your class as some minor prep for the class may be required.

Does the fee for a virtual class apply to everyone participating in my household or is it a per person fee?

The stated fee for each virtual class is for one device per household. It’s up to you how many people from your household join you during the class. If you want another household to share in the cooking experience with you, let them know that they will have to register for the class at www.longos.com/loft

How are in-store hands-on classes different from demonstration classes?

Interactive classes allow you to participate in the preparation of some aspects of one or more dishes with the chef and other participants, or as indicated in the class description. In contrast, during a demonstration class, participants will watch and learn from the featured chef as they prepare dishes for participants to enjoy.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds are available up to 48 hours before the class begins. Refunds will not be given for a missed class.

What is your cancellation policy?

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a class due to insufficient enrolment or other circumstances.

Do I get to sample the food at a cooking class?

All in-store classes include a sampling of the dishes prepared in class to be enjoyed in The Loft.

What if I or my child has a food allergy?

The Loft is not an allergy or nut free space. We are unable to guarantee that food and equipment have not come into contact with any allergens.

Do I have to supervise my child during a Virtual Cooking Class for Kids?

Our Virtual Classes for kids (recommended for ages 6 and above) involve cooking with kitchen equipment, appliances and tools. During class our menus may require that we melt, cook, bake or chop ingredients, so supervision and assistance will be required to prevent cuts, burns or other injuries. Depending on the child’s age and cooking abilities, the child may also need assistance following the recipes, measuring out ingredients, and following the instructions provided by the instructor. It is up to the parent/caregiver to determine what the child can or cannot do on their own, and how much supervision and assistance will be required. Safety procedures will be covered by the instructor at the beginning of each class and reminders will be provided as appropriate. It will be up to the parent/guardian booking the class or supervising the child to make any substitutions to the shopping list should the child have any allergies.
